It’s College Visit Season

When it comes to college visits, most people just drive around the campus, register for
Powered By a tour, sit-in on an information session, and then leave without meeting the key people,
without asking the important questions, and without understanding the real opportunity.

hen you take a tour and sit in an information session, you are merely getting a sales and marketing pitch
Wfrom the college. They are letting you know how you can buy into their business model. They control
what you see and hear. That puts you in a weak position. Leaving the college without engaging the people who
determine your outcome for admissions, costs, studies, and for athletes, college sports is a big mistake. You’ll be
leaving without knowing how they conduct their business or what your opportunity is for success!
For college visits to be effective, you need to meet the key decision-makers from admissions, financial aid, your
department of study, and for athletes, the college coach. The plan is to ask them the right questions in gaining a
far deeper insight into how the college might be right for you.
